Procedure for requesting a group visit/ guided tour and/or photo shoot.
Tours are carried out by registered museum tour guides only. The days allocated for guided tours are Tuesdays and Thursdays when these are pre-booked using the following procedure and forms. The conditions and procedures varies for schools and youth organisations, see below for details.
A guided tour basically consists of an overview of the history of A V Roe, and the significant aircraft, also the Company/Companies up to the closure of the Woodford factory in 2010. The tour usually includes a guided visit to at least one of our aircraft cockpits e.g. the Vulcan cockpit, VC10, Nimrod, Lancaster, 748 or ATP. These are subject to availability and weather conditions as well as any accessibility issues.

Please note:- It is essential that all groups requesting a guided tour/visit, or a photo shoot complete and submit the ‘Initial Visit Enquiry Form’. THIS MUST BE COMPLETED before any tour/visit or photo shoot can be considered by the museum. To download a form click here Initial Visit Enquiry Form
Tour numbers are limited to a maximum of 30 people and a minimum of 12 people.
Contact the museum using the Museum Initial Group Visit Enquiry Form. This type of enquiry will be dealt with by the museum’s education manager as they are not subject to the same requirements and conditions as other tour groups. The procedures, group sizes, charges and times are also different.
GROUP TOUR DAYS & TIMES
Tours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. The first tour starts at 10:30am the last tour starts at 1:30pm. Please note there are no evening tours as the museum closes at 4 or 5 pm depending on season.
MUSEUM PUBLIC DAYS
Friday, Saturday and Sunday are open public days. However, these days can be available to groups that only require a photo shoot.

Should you wish to contact us in person or by telephone on one of our public days the information on the ‘Initial Visit Enquiry Form’ will still be required.
RESPONSE TO ENQUIRIES
In all cases the Museum will reply by telephone, email or post advising you of our provisional acceptance of one of your preferred dates if we have a vacancy, or offering an alternative vacancy. The Museum email will have a Full Visit Form attached for your completion and return This form covers most requirements you may have for cafe facilities,costs etc.
Please note all dates are provisional until confirmed by the Museum. In exceptional cases a Full Visit Form can be posted.
Buffet lunches can be available for tour groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays only when pre-ordered on the Full Visit Form and deposit has been received 14 days prior to the actual visit. Note Buffet lunches are not available during public days but the cafe is open for teas, coffees etc.
