Pedestrian Access

Unfortunately whilst building work is being undertaken on the site of the previous Woodford Aerodrome NO pedestrian access is permitted. See the note below re: cyclist access.

Vehicle Directions

NOTE the Museum is currently in the middle of a massive development. From October 12th 2019 a new entry route should be followed. The route starts at the roundabout with entry to Woodford Garden Village off the A5102 almost opposite the Notcutts Garden Centre.

Use Postcode SK7 1QR for Satnav – this will bring you into the Garden Village via a roundabout. There is a sign on each side of the entry road from the roundabout.

From there follow the road through the estate with the grassy space on your right.

You will come to a point where a road joins from the right. This was the previous entrance. Ignore that and about 200 yards further on another road joins. Turn right there – there are brown signs pointing towards the route.. You are now on a smaller road – still good quality tarmac.

The only traffic will be to or from the Museum or building site traffic.

Follow straight forward through a signed gap in a wooden fence, forward again along the road. You will get to just before the old runway where you have  to turn left. Forward again until a set of bollards guide you to the right across a section of gravel onto the old runway.  This bit is narrow with just enough room for 2 vehicles to pass. At the end bear right (it’s a blind bend so take care) and you will come round to the Museum with the Vulcan XM603 in fine sight. Drive past the Museum and the Car Park entrance is on the right.

There is no access past the Museum towards flight sheds & the old CAE building.

Please adhere to the speed limits and please do not stop anywhere on the way round to the Museum. Take care as you will be driving through a live building site. Don’t be distracted.
