Mahogany Handley Page Victor Wooden Model
The Handley Page Victor was one of three aircraft types which formed the V-Force, Britain's airborne nuclear deterrent. It was retired from this role in 1968 due to airframe fatigue, which had been exacerbated by the change to low-level bombing tactics.
The Victor fleet was converted to airborne tankers in the 1970s with the work being carried out at Chadderton and Woodford due to the liquidation of Handley Page. The fleet continued in this role until the Victor was retired in 1993.
The Victor famously took part in the Black Buck missions during the Falklands War. The fleet was stretched to the limit in a hugely complex relay of air to air refuelling to complete what was then the longest bombing mission in history.
Handcrafted from quality mahogany with a high luster varnish, this is a stylised desk-top model of a Handley Page Victor, ideal for home or office.
